This was the first year Tanzan had to organise the display for creation day without being supervised by her boss. She had free reign over the theme and the equipment, which the Gym Leader was exited for the moment Alex had left her to her own devices. The array of fireworks she had requested was probably more than her boss would go for, as she wanted this year's display to impress even Arceus.
It was surprisingly easy to work around a large crowd, as they tended to avoid the explosives surrounding the land if they had fire-type Pokemon; it was still daytime and most of the city's inhabitants were busy giving young trainers their first Pokemon. Tanzan looked at the few people wandering around, seeing if she could recognise anyone.
"Oi! Tanzie!" Jinendra had decided to mark Creation Day in Indry City this year--they always had the best festival, not to mention the best food. She'd heard through the grapevine that Tanzan was putting the display together this year, and if it was anything like her gym displays, it was bound to be a sight to see.
So, when she saw her setting up, she jogged over, face lit up with a grin. Maybe she could get some inside info on what the display would be like. "How ya been? Been too long!" Jin had a tendency to greet everyone this way, regardless of how long it had actually been since they last saw each other.
It took Tanzan a second to recognise the familiar woman running up to her, but she managed to remember that she was Jinendra, one of Konah's Elite Four. The last time the two had met was at one of Risa City's countless parties. Tanzan didn't know the trainer well enough to discern her motive for talking to her, but at this point she was eager to speak to anyone if it meant she could take a well-earned break from her preparations.
"Hey, Jin!" she shouted, emulating the woman's informal greeting. "Long time no see. How have you been?"
"Good, good! League's been pretty busy, haven't gotten away much. Keeps me on my toes, though!" She clapped the other trainer on the back. "What about you? Much going on out here in Indry City? I hear you've got the fireworks on lockdown this year! Whatcha got planned?" She looked around her setup, trying to glean what she was doing from what she saw. Knowing nothing about fireworks, this was not particularly helpful. "Something special, I bet!"
The Gym Leader was surprised at Jin's interest in her display, but she was willing to give her some of her plans for tonight's show. It wasn't like they were meant to be top secret, her boss would have said so otherwise. Smiling at the woman in front of her, she thought it no harm to divulge her ideas."
"You won't tell anyone else about this, ok." She said jokingly, remaining relaxed despite deliberating on what parts of the display were interesting enough to share. Before she could gain a responce she started telling Jin all of her plans. "I decided to do a display symbolising Arceus creating the universe and the many Legendary Pokemon that govern the world's laws and concepts. You can expect a lot of explosions and some familiar Pokemon."
Jin nodded--who would she tell? (Okay, well, in fairness, Jin probably would have immediately told SOMEONE unless she'd been told not to.) She listened intently, nodding here and there--sounded pretty artsy and cool.
Then she mentioned the phrase 'a lot of explosions'. Now THAT'S what she was here for.
"Excellent!! Explosions!! Like. If you had to guess how many. Like 100? 200?" She leaned in, looking back and forth to make sure no one was in earshot, like she was about to unveil some very Top Secret info. "1000???"
Tanzan couldn't but laugh at Jin's enthusiasm for explosions, as it was definitely one of the perks of organising the displays. She thought about humouring Jin's lack of knowledge of fireworks, but thought better of it. What if she actually believed something that was said in jest?
"I wish I could do at least 100, but that would mean the show would go on all night. Are you planning to watch the show later? Because it's going to be our biggest yet."
